Briefing for Parliamentarians on Cybercrime

21 February 2023

In recent years, criminal cyber attacks have become one of the greatest security threats, with potentially enormous economic and socio-political consequences. UN diplomats are now negotiating a global convention against cybercrime to limit these risks.

In this context, the IFSH ICS Team and the Berlin office organized a briefing for members of parliament and their staff. Mischa Hansel presented first results of a new study on the societal and international implications of cybercrime. Felix Kroll, Deputy Head of the Cyber Foreign Policy Coordination Staff at the Federal Foreign Office, offered first-hand insight into the goals, opportunities and risks of the ongoing UN negotiations.
