Mateusz has just published his book titled “Przed Waszą Erą. Człowiek w syntetycznym świecie deepfake’ów, ChataGPT i sztucznej inteligencji” (Wydawnictwo Filia, currently available in Polish language). The German edition of the book would be published in September under the title “The End of Reality. Humans in the Age of Deepfakes, ChatGPT, and Artificial Intelligence”.

The book deliberately focuses not on technology itself but on the relationship between humans and machines. At its core are questions about how generative AI is changing our perception of reality, how it influences language, relationships, and decision-making, and what new social dynamics emerge as a result. It argues that generative AI is not only transforming media or information but gradually reshaping the emotional and social foundations of human life, and allows for the shaping of new realities.

The book explores several major areas where generative AI is transforming human experience:

  • Synthetic relationships and AI companions
  • Artificial intelligence in psychotherapy and emotional support
  • Deepfakes and the erosion of trust in visual reality
  • Synthetic influencers and algorithmic identities
  • Digital avatars of the deceased and the future of mourning
  • Re-creating and creating versions of reality

Rather than offering a technical explanation of AI, the book combines narrative reportage, contemporary case studies, and social analysis. It is written for a broad audience interested in the intersection of technology and society and engages directly with the ongoing public debate about the societal consequences of AI. Its central strength lies in shifting the perspective: the focus is not on the technology itself but on the human experience within a rapidly transforming technological environment. This should be a key element that distinguishes the book from other titles devoted to technology, including AI.
