On 8 October, Mateusz joined “Klub Trójki”, the evening current-affairs programme of Polish Radio Trójka, for a discussion hosted by Paulina Wilk titled “Artificial intelligence or superintelligence?”. The conversation asked whether the race towards ever more powerful AI systems is heading for machines that surpass humans, and who would control them.

Mateusz argued that the debate about a future superintelligence should not distract us from the problems AI is causing already. Chatbots shape decisions, emotions and relationships. Synthetic content erodes our shared sense of reality. A handful of tech companies set the rules. Whether or not superintelligence ever arrives, the task now is to define the limits of human agency and to regulate the technology while it is still possible.
